Why streaming-native matters
BET, TV One and NewsOne were built for the cable era. They are cable-first networks that bolted on streaming. BCN is the inverse: streaming-first, with on-demand, live, AI-curated and short-form distribution from day one. There is no streaming-native Black news network in the U.S. media landscape today. That is the gap BCN was built to close.
The economics follow the platform. Connected-TV households now exceed cable subscribers in the United States, and the gap is widening. By launching streaming-native and free-ad-supported (FAST) on every major streaming platform, BCN aligns its distribution with where its audience already is — and avoids the structural decline that has hollowed out the cable bundle.
