Editorial standards
BCN's news division operates to public-service standards: editorial independence, source verification, on-the-record reporting, and a duty to correct. Our newsroom is built around three principles that have governed the best of public-service journalism for a century — accuracy, impartiality of treatment, and accountability — applied to a Black editorial perspective that mainstream broadcast has historically under-served.
News is produced and edited by the BCN editorial team across bureaus in Chicago and Miami, with regional desks across the United States and an expanding international footprint through diaspora partnerships, including planned collaboration with Global Africa Media Networks.
The BCN journalism block
Three news properties anchor the weekday block: NewsDay 90:00, the network's signature daily newscast; NewsWorld 60:00, the international diaspora hour; and NewsNight, the long-form investigative and analysis program.
